I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and if you have been there, you know there is something special about those hills. Today, I have the privilege of serving as the Senior Pastor at Flat Rock, but above all, I consider Jesus Christ to be my true employer and guide. My academic journey led me to earn a Bachelor of Science in Religion with a minor in Christian counseling, as well as a Master of Divinity in theology. Each of these experiences has shaped not only my ministry but also who I am as a person.
The most important day of my life was July 16, 1998, when I made the life-changing decision to follow Jesus and received His gift of salvation. If you’re new to the faith, let me encourage you: salvation isn’t about checking boxes or following strict rules—it’s about building a real, living relationship with Jesus Christ. Just like any relationship, it grows as you spend time together. That means setting aside moments for prayer, opening your Bible, and connecting with other believers who can walk the journey with you. Over time, Jesus gently shapes and molds us, transforming us from the inside out. As Scripture reminds us, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). The more we walk with Jesus, the more our hearts, minds, and lives begin to reflect His love and grace.
On July 15, 2007, I married my best friend, Felicia Nicole “Nikki” Baker. She has been my partner in every sense, and together we’ve been blessed with three wonderful daughters and two precious grandchildren. Our family loves discovering more about God’s creation, whether that means taking care of our two playful dogs, four curious cats, two adventurous bearded dragons, two fascinating axolotls, or our colorful aquarium fish. There’s never a dull moment at our house, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Spending time with my family is one of my greatest joys, and I truly treasure every moment I get to share with my wife and children. Whether we're gathered around the dinner table or heading out on an adventure, the memories we make together mean the world to me. When I have a little free time, you’ll often find me outdoors—swimming, hiking, or just soaking in the beauty of nature. I also have a real passion for keeping fish and caring for our aquariums; watching the colorful fish swim is both relaxing and fascinating. My wife, Nikki, has a green thumb and loves gardening, so lately, we’ve started tending to plants together. It’s become a wonderful way for us to grow closer and learn more about God’s creation side by side.
